The idea of breathing in rhythm accomplishes two important things:
- When we breathe in rhythm we are breathing according to the cycle of respiration, and
- When we breathe in rhythm as we sing an exercise then we have no time to hold the breath and get “set” to sing.
Thus, rhythmic breathing is key to bypassing faulty mental and physical pre-concepts. We begin to be in touch with previously unimagined sounds, and sensations that are natural.
